**Celina Montoya Garcia Joins Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico As New Executive Director**
Celina Montoya-Garcia, a Pueblo Indigenous woman from Ohkay Owingeh, New Mexico, steps into the role of Executive Director at the Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico (CCNNM). She brings with her a rich background as a mother, published poet, community educator, and advocate with eight years in non-profit management. Her work focuses on fostering healthy, violence-free environments in tribal communities.
An alumna of the Institute of American Indian Arts, Celina holds a degree in fine arts with a concentration in creative writing and a CNA certification from Northern New Mexico College, emphasizing substance use prevention support services. She is furthering her education in creative writing and social work.
Germaine Mitchell, Board President of CCNNM, expresses confidence in Celina’s capacity to propel the organization forward through her expertise and dedication.
With a vision to build upon the current offerings of the Center, Celina’s initial 90 days will be dedicated to reinforcing service quality and expanding staff capabilities to meet diverse community needs. Known for her coalition-building prowess in rural areas, her expertise is a welcome addition to the CCNNM.
Since 1992, the Crisis Center of Northern New Mexico has been instrumental in providing crucial support services, including a 24-hour Emergency Crisis Line, Emergency Housing, Counseling, Supervised Visitation, Orders of Protection, and a Batterer’s Intervention Program. The passionate team at CCNNM remains committed to the organization’s mission to nurture healthy families and ensure a violence-free environment.
